Deborah McMurray, the CEO and Strategy Architect of Content Pilot LLC and the mastermind of the Content Pilot suite of new technology solutions, has been a pioneer in legal marketing since 1984, when she represented her first law firm client. Since 1987, she has worked in-house and as a consultant with leading law firms and legal industry companies on strategic marketing and positioning initiatives, and the implementation of branding programs—both print and electronic. Deborah was inducted into the Legal Marketing Association Hall of Fame at the 2008 national conference in Los Angeles, and inducted as a Fellow into the American Bar Association’s College of Law Practice Management.
After serving 11 years as the first marketing director at two large Texas law firms, Deborah started her consultancy in 1998. In 2002, she and her operations and technology team formalized and launched Content Pilot as a content management system for Web sites. Content Pilot LLC was launched in January 2006, and our applications have expanded to include a state of the art Web site content management system, proposal center and experience management tools, intranets, e-Newsletter and branded email tools, plus others. The entire suite of Pilot products is customized to a law firm’s specific needs, and is built on the Content Pilot database and content management platform.
Deborah and her creative and development teams have represented numerous law firms and legal industry leaders throughout the U.S. on their most important projects. She is considered an industry authority on the design and development of Web-based projects, and is a critical part of most Web site projects. Key personnel of Content Pilot LLC are also considered authorities in their respective areas of expertise—development and programming, SEO, user interface design and usability, the integration of technology in law firms, copywriting and design.
In 2005, Content Pilot commissioned the first legal industry Web site best practices research, based on best practices in the broad Web industry and on an objective analysis of the AmLaw 100 Web sites. Each year we update and publish the Ten Foundational Best Practices list and the attributes within each best practice.
